Dear Editor:
 I am a PEF (union) worker and I make nowhere near $63 thousand dollars as stated in your editorial. I earn much closer to the average personal income stated in your article. I earn much less than then the private sector as it is. I am facing a 5 day furlough period in the upcoming year. My personal contribution to health insurance will be higher this year.  As far as pension plan, I am forced to contribute 3% of my salary - no choice! We have had years with no raise. It is not the union's fault that NY is in fiscal crisis. Will the governor and his staff take a pay cut or freeze or accept furlough days? Let's eliminate frivolous spending as there was in the past. Keep jobs in NY and not hire independent contractors.
And don't forget the cost of living.  Let's keep salaries and increases equal to that cost.
