Times of India, The
Dear Editor: I herein request you to take a note of the concern mentioned as it concerns women commuters' safety and an negligence in tthe matter may lead to serious irreversible damage. The local train scheduled for Dahanu that leaves the Churchgate station at 8.27 pm is always hindered from the scheduled journey in scheduled time and is put off track or side tracked or made to halt for enormously long periods, thus making the train schedule go awry from its conventional schedule. Doing this, makes the train arrive at irksomely late and unsafe hours at the Boisar and the stations that lie ahead of Boisar towards Dahanu. This has lead to increased incidences of eve-teasing, cat-calling, no provision of rickshaws and prevailing of other such circumstances. I request the concerned authorities to avoid aberrations in the Dahanu Local schedule. In addition to there being egregiously less number of local trains catering to Dahanu and distant suburbs, North beyond Virar, wherein this situation itself is awful and hard to come with, I fail to understand how is it that the authorities take the liberty to delay a train that is scheduled to reach Boisar station after 10.30 pm with young women travelling on it. It is disturbing to find the authorities callous about this concern. I request you to resolve the discrepancy in the listed train schedule and actual time of its arrival at the respective railway stations. Needless to mention your E-Nos 311 and 9833331111 keep dodging the calls. Further, the trains scheduled in the morning from Dahanu towards Mumbai are egregiously late, and give my employers numerous premises to deduct my salary: All thanks to Indian Railways!
